How to Prep for a Sandbar Day
When going to a sandbar, it's important to pack the right essentials to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Here are some items you should consider bringing:
- Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays by applying sunscreen before heading out and bringing extra for reapplication throughout the day.
- Shade: Bring a beach umbrella or a portable shade structure to provide shelter from the sun. This will help you stay cool and protect against sunburn. Our boat has a fiberglass T-Top that provides a lot of shade. Many sandbars include tropical trees that provide ample shade to cool off under.
- Water and beverages: Stay hydrated by bringing plenty of water and other beverages. It's important to avoid dehydration, especially when spending long hours under the sun. We provide a cooler loaded with ice and waters, with room to bring along your beverages of choice.
- Snacks and food: Pack some snacks or sandwiches for a quick bite while enjoying your time at the sandbar. Remember to bring a cooler with ice to keep perishable food items fresh.
- Beach towels and blankets: Bring towels or blankets to lay on and for drying off after swimming or lounging in the water.
- Water shoes or sandals: Sandbars can sometimes have shells, rocks, or other sharp objects beneath the sand. Protect your feet by wearing water shoes or sandals.
- Floats or inflatables: Bring inflatable rafts, floaties, or other water toys to relax and enjoy the water. Here at HBC we are fully stocked with noodles, Floaties and rafts !
- Safety equipment: Ensure you have life jackets for everyone aboard, especially if you plan to go swimming or engage in water activities. It's important to prioritize safety even in shallow water. Safety is something we take very seriously and have all coast guard required safety gear. We carry multiple first aid kits and prior to your trip verify that all safety equipment is on board and in proper operating condition.
- Cooler with ice: Keep your food and beverages cold by bringing a cooler with ice. This will help maintain their freshness throughout the day.
- Trash bags: Be a responsible beach-goer and pack some trash bags to collect and dispose of any waste generated during your time at the sandbar. We ensure to leave the sandbar in better condition than arrived to preserve our beautiful resources.
- Waterproof bags or cases: Keep your valuables, mobile phones, and other electronics protected from water by placing them in waterproof bags or cases.
- First aid kit: Carry a basic first aid kit with essentials like band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and any necessary medications. We provide multiple first aid kits.
